Here are a few images from Nicola and Mark’s pre-wedding shoot down in a sunny, but very windy, Whitstable at the start of the week.
I met up with the guys at their venue – as it’s a bit of a trek for me, I unusually combined a venue visit with their pre-wedding shoot (I generally try to do the pre-wedding shoot at a different venue just for a bit of variety). I hadn’t met Nicola and Mark, so it was nice to put faces to names – the guys said they were nervous, but we had a blast – I really enjoyed it as they were both (despite their protestations) so natural in front of the camera.
As the wind was so strong we started off looking for interesting backgrounds and spots out of the wind, but trying to keep the lovely evening directional sunlight. The beach huts always make for some lovely, interesting backgrounds, which, coupled with Marks striking jumper, made for some great colour photos!
We finished up down on the beach, where I (as always) tried to keep hair off the bride’s face (Mark and I didn’t really have this problem!). I generally try to photograph with the sun behind the couple, but you can usually guarantee that the wind will then also be behind the couple. When the sun is low enough though, it can be used to great effect, almost like a directional studio light.
Here are some of my favourites, I’m looking forward to their August wedding!
