I LOVED photographing this wedding back in the summer for my great friend Jenny! Jenny married Jurian at an intimate family ceremony at Tonbridge Castle, followed by a larger, relaxed party reception at The Plough in Leigh (pronounced ‘Lie’ for my non-Kent readers!) and I was honoured to be asked to capture it for them. If you’re getting married at Tonbridge Castle or the Plough at Leigh and want to enquire about wedding photography, please contact me to discuss your requirements!
Jenny and Jurian wanted a super-relaxed reception at The Plough, with a barbecue planned – so during bridal prep a few eyes were kept on the typical British summer weather. Jenny wasn’t about to let a few drops of rain spoil her day though, so bridal prep was a cheery, nerve-free affair as Jenny was joined by her closest family.
Once Jenny was in her stunning dress I made my way to Tonbridge Castle to join Jurian and his family, all over from the Netherlands. The ceremony at the castle was a very intimate affair with just close family and a few friends present. The interior of the castle is certainly atmospheric – light was hard to come by in places so professional cameras are a must!
After the ceremony, the bride and groom made their way outside to be greeted by the girls from work, all eager to get their first look at the stunning bride!
After the wedding party had enjoyed a drink in the grounds, we photographed some quick bride and groom portraits and groups.
We then made our way to the Plough at Leigh, where the happy couple welcomed a much larger group to the party! As all the groups and couples portraits were pretty much done, I was able to really concentrate on photographing candidly.
A relaxed drinks reception was followed by an indoor buffet before the evening guests arrived.
Before long, it was time for the first dance and then the partying started in earnest to a mixture of party tunes including some pretty hardcore Euro techno music – things got a bit wild in places but great fun to photograph!
I stayed a lot longer than usual, for a good reason – at midnight, it became Jenny’s 40th birthday complete with cake, a speech by Jurian and a surprise honeymoon/40th present of a trip to New York! Everyone then made their way back outside for birthday sparklers – again, great fun to photograph!
Just time for one final flash shot and then my evening was done!
Congratulations once again to Jenny and Jurian – I had a blast photographing for you and so enjoyed seeing you get married!
