Here’s the second part of the wedding photography from Nicola and Craig’s intimate wedding at The Swan, West Malling in Kent. Nicola and Craig were married at The Swan, and then had reception drinks followed by a fine dining meal, at which point I was to leave the guests. The wedding finished after the meal and speeches.
After the service, Nicola and Craig and the guests moved into the bar for reception drinks and canapes. After a drink with their guests, the bride and groom headed back outside into the rain for a quick spin in the wedding car. This gave me the opportunity to capture all the lovely, stylish details in the fine dining room where the wedding breakfast was to take place. After photographing the details I made my way back to the guests to capture the story as it unfolded. Group shots were then followed by bride and groom portraits around The Swan. After the portraits and more candids, the bride and groom made their entrance into the wedding reception. After a few more quick candids it was time for me to leave. I gave the bride and groom a quiet wave and mouthed that I was off, as I didn’t want to intrude on their moment. I didn’t expect the spontaneous round of applause from the guests and going round shaking hands – this is why I love photographing small, intimate weddings as you get to know the guests and can build up some rapport with them. I left a very happy photographer – and not even Wales getting beaten by New Zealand in rugby (big surprise) could wipe the smile off my face!
