Paul and Yvonne were married on a lovely hot day at St Mary’s Platt Church, followed by a lovely reception at my favourite Kent wedding venue – Hotel du Vin, Tunbridge Wells.
I started the day at Yvonne and Paul’s stunning house for bridal preparations. There was a real family feel, what with parents, aunts and uncles, Yvonne and Paul’s three children and the dog all in attendance – luckily, room wasn’t something they are short of! In fact, they were hosting a further wedding reception the next day with a marquee in the grounds of their beautiful house – hence Yvonne had two wedding dresses for me to photograph!
It took a few minutes for the kids to get used to me being there, and my photojournalistic ninja skills were sorely tested for a while by Paul and Yvonne’s eldest, with shouts of ‘Mummy, that man’s taking your picture again!!!’ from wherever I was trying to shoot. They all soon enjoyed playing up for the camera and I was able to get some great shots.
I then made my way to the church of St Mary’s Platt just a short drive from Yvonne and Paul’s house, to meet up with the boys, and then await the bride’s arrival. The church is lovely and light, although I was restricted to shooting from the back of the church. After the service, we made our way outside for Yvonne and Paul to greet their guests, then shot a few quick bride and groom portraits as a confetti line was organised down the lovely steps. Yvonne and Paul then jumped into their beautiful car for the journey to Hotel du Vin for the next part of their wedding day.
