As a kent wedding photographer it’s great to work at new venues, and Dorton House in Seal, near Sevenoaks was a new one to me. Dorton house housed the Royal London Society for the Blind school in a grade ii listed mansion house. Dorton has a fantastic staircase which I was really looking forward to using for photographs. Unfortunately, during the summer the building was sold, so Dorton House has now stopped offering weddings, which is a great shame in my opinion.
Claire and Jason were one of the last couples to enjoy the great settings of Dorton House – they were married at St Margaret’s Church in the lovely village of Underriver, with the reception at Dorton House.
I joined Claire, her mum and the girls for a laughter-filled bridal preparation, Claire was really nice and relaxed which always helps with the atmosphere.
I then made my way to St Margaret’s to join the boys in the sunshine for some relaxed groom portraiture. Unfortunately the weather then turned a bit for us, so the bride arrived in the rain and made a quick dash from car to church!
After the service, Claire (a nanny) was greeted by loads of the children from her group, who all thought she looked like a princess! Some great moments for wedding photography, all watched by a very proud Nan (from the shelter of the porch!).
Here are some of my favourite wedding images from the first part of their day – come back soon for part 2 at Dorton House!
