Here’s part two of the wedding photography from Stewart and Ben’s civil partnership. I’d never undertaken wedding photography at The Savoy Hotel so was really looking forward to working in such opulent surroundings!
After the ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall, Stewart, Ben, Max (and I) made our way by taxi to the iconic Savoy Hotel for their reception lunch. Stewart and Ben wanted photojournalism coverage, although I shot the occasional portrait and group as they formed.
Once the guests had arrived, pre-lunch drinks and canapes were served whilst everyone mingled and made a fuss of Max. Max goes everywhere with Stewart and Ben, so of course was invited to the reception (the Savoy being dog-friendly). Max nonchalantly sauntered round the room as if mingling and greeting everyone himself! He alternated this with periods under the table (maybe receiving the odd naughty tit-bit here and there) and only one break for freedom (or a look round the hotel depending on your view!)
The guests then sat down for an amazing lunch in the plush surroundings of the Pinafore private dining suite.
Following lunch, we were treated to some heart-warming and funny speeches followed by cutting the cake, coffee and drinks. Max again played a starring role, he’s such a lovely placcid dog, he enjoyed loads of cuddles from Stewart and Ben before all too soon it was time to leave. Stewart and Ben encouraged all the guests to take some flowers home with them, then I captured everyone leaving before finally the three boys made their way out into a waiting taxi for the short ride home, all before their second reception/party at The Ivy the next day and evening!
Congratulations once again to Stewart and Ben!
