Here’s the first part of Sarah and Richard’s lovely wedding from last year.
Sarah and Richard were married at St Lawrence of Canterbury RC church in Sidcup, with a reception at my local wedding venue (handy for the end of the night for me!) – Hotel du Vin, Tunbridge Wells.
I started the day as usual at the brides house, where I joined Sarah, her bridesmaids and mum. Also there was Sarah and Richard’s beautiful little daughter who was a flowergirl (but secret star of the show really, as you’ll see from the pictures).
After photographing the lovely details, I moved onto the girls having their makeup done, and then as Sarah’s daughter got more used to me being around, she really forgot about me and relaxed so I was able to get some fantastic images (ok, the Milky Bar Buttons may have also taken her mind off me a little bit….).
After bridal prep, I made the two minute journey round the corner to join Richard, his best man and parents at the lovely church. After a few quick groom shots, I waited for the guests to start arriving…and waited….and waited…5 minutes before the service was due to start, it was still just me, Richard, Best man and Richard’s parents!
I hadn’t realised that Sarah’s parents were Irish, and I’m sure she won’t mind me saying that the whole affair took on a bit more of a “relaxed” approach timings-wise! Sure enough, the guests started to make their way over from the pub across the road to join the groom just as the bridemaids arrived. Once the bridesmaids had been dropped off, the car went back for the bride and after a short delay Sarah made her (stunning) entrance to the ceremony.
I was only allowed to photograph from the back of the church so started low in the aisle, then went up to the balcony to shoot which allowed me to get some great shots as Sarah and Richard’s daughter didn’t fancy staying down in the pews with granny, she wanted to be up where the action was – with her mum and dad, then with the readers, then with the signing of the register – so cute!
After the service we made our way outside for confetti and for everyone to greet the newly married couple.
We then all jumped in our cars to make the mad Saturday dash down to Hotel du Vin through the traffic, where I waited for the bride and groom’s arrival!
Come back soon for part 2 of Sarah and Richard’s day. In the meantime, here are my favourites from the first part of their day!
