During the cold, dark winter months, it’s nice to look back on sunnier, hotter days – so here are my favourite wedding photographs from Rachel & Saul’s wedding back in the summer.
Rachel and Saul were married at Salomons in Tunbridge Wells – a lovely venue, with an outdoor ceremony planned – and for once, the weather held! Weirdly, despite being very local I hadn’t photographed at this great Kent wedding venue for quite a while, so it was nice to be back!
If you’re getting married at Salomons, do please contact me to discuss your wedding photography.
I started the day off at Rachel’s parents house in Tonbridge to photograph bridal prep – lovely to have a nice, spacious, light area for the hair and makeup.
Once Rachel had given out her bridesmaids gifts and was in her dress, I nipped off to join Tash who was already at Salomons and had made a start photographing the lovely details that the bride and groom (and Rachel’s dad, who built the selfie wall!) had put so much effort into.
It was great to finally have another outdoor ceremony to photograph (2016 had quite a few rain-affected weddings unfortunately) – the guys were so happy throughout which made it a joy to photograph!
After the ceremony and a few minutes of candid photography, Tash and I took the bride and groom down to the bridge for some couples pictures. After a quick stop-off inside in the museum, bride and groom made their way back to the guests for drinks and canapes.
Although the weather was dry, it was a tad breezy as Salomons is set up quite high – so once the groups were done and dusted in the shelter, it was time for everyone to make their way through, via the receiving line, into the stunning Drawing Room for the wedding breakfast.
During the meal, guests coloured-in and filled out cards with personal messages to the bride and groom – a lovely touch (some took it very seriously!) before it was time for the speeches.
After the speeches, guests made use of the selfie/photo wall (made by Rachel’s dad!) and (mostly) the boys got stuck in to – beer pong! The guys had great fun with this, as did we – so nice to photograph something a bit different!
During a break in proceedings, we whisked the bride and groom off down to the lake for some more couples pictures, before it was time to get the evening underway as the bride and groom made their entrance back into the Drawing Room for their first dance. As it was a July wedding, it was still pretty light outside, so quite a few of the guests enjoyed the final rays of the evening sunshine, whilst some others kept the dancing going – I split my time between inside and outside, keeping one eye on the sky hoping to get a nice sunset – the sun goes down behind a tree-lined hill, which gives a lovely dark background. I quickly set up the final flash shot, grabbed the bride and groom and finished off the evening with a few final shots of the happy couple!
Congratulations once again to Rachel and Saul!
