Here’s the first part of the Reid Rooms wedding photography from Theresa and Matt’s Essex wedding last year.
Theresa and Matt were married last summer at The Reid Rooms in Margaret Roding, Essex. The British weather can always throw up surprises and can never be relied upon to play ball, but if there was one day I wish it would have, this was it. Theresa is horse-mad, and was due to make an entrance to the Reid Rooms in an open-top horse-drawn carriage. Unfortunately, the plans had to be changed at the last minute – luckily, a covered carriage was provided and the journey shortened so she still arrived in style!
I started the soggy day at the bride’s house, to photograph bridal preparations. Hair and makeup had already been setup in the lovely light conservatory, whose plain walls made for a great backdrop for bridal prep photos (and some bride portraits once I’d moved the bin !!!)
I then moved upstairs to photograph the details, including Theresa’s lovely Jimmy Choo shoes, and her beautiful ‘Love Actually’ Stewart Parvin dress, supplied once again by my good friends Reggie and Mo at The Bespoke Wardrobe in Ingatestone. To tie in with the family name, Theresa had accessorized her dress with the Mackay family tartan and badge.
After a few quick bridal portraits, I made my way to The Reid Rooms, to join Chris Shotton who was second shooting for me that day – Chris had already made a start shooting the boys getting ready. It’s safe to say that besides Theresa and Matt, there were two other stars of the show that day – their dogs, who were dressed up as bride and groom and attended the service!
Once I’d shot the groom portraits, the weather took another turn for the worse, so everyone headed inside to await the bride’s arrival. Once the carriage had arrived, Theresa made a mad dash in to talk to the registrars, whilst I made my way in to photograph the service. I was thankful for the low light capabilities of my camera, plus fast prime lenses – it was very, very dark in the ceremony room!
