Here’s the first part of the Preston Court wedding photography from Natasha and Jamie’s wedding last year.
I first met Natasha and Jamie only a few weeks prior to their wedding – they live in Japan and had booked me for their wedding photography over the internet. It was great to meet them and hear about their adventures in Japan over a very hot, sunny (but very windy!) pre-wedding shoot in London.
Natasha and Jamie were getting married at St Mary the Virgin in Wingham, followed by a reception at the lovely Preston Court. Preston Court, near Canterbury in Kent, is a very popular wedding venue due to the lovely grounds, lake, island (where civil ceremonies can actually take place!), amazing barn (with very picturesque huge organ) and of course the ever-popular carousel, which Natasha’s mum had booked as a surprise for the couple!
I joined Natasha and the girls at her parents house to photograph the bridal preparations, which provided a great mix of emotions – especially the surprise presentation of Natasha’s nan’s ring to her, which apparently she’d loved since she was a little girl. I then made the dash over to St Mary The Virgin in Wingham to join Jamie and the boys for some relaxed groom pictures and guest arrivals. We then waited with the bridesmaids for the brides arrival, and entrance into the ceremony.
After a beautiful, happy ceremony which we were able to capture from two angles (additional photography courtesy of Dan Woolgar), the bride and groom waited in the porch of the church whilst a fantastic confetti line was hastily arranged, making use of the tunnel-like path at St Mary’s. I always tell my couples to smile and try not to make faces during the confetti, but it’s difficult when your friends sole aim (pardon the pun) is launching confetti into the face – women go for the tip over the head, men seem to go for the full-on upwards thrust into the face – makes for great photographs anyway!
Natasha and Jamie then made their way to Preston Court, which will be coming up in a few days in part 2!
