Here are some of my favourite wedding images from Polly and Scott’s lovely spring wedding at Salomons Estate just outside Tunbridge Wells in Kent. If you’re getting married at Salomons, please contact me for a quote!
It’s great to be asked to photograph a couple’s special day – that they like your style of photography and you as a person that they’d like to have around on their wedding day. As the groom was a wedding photographer himself (well, ex but you get the idea) it was an added honour – with a little bit of added pressure thrown in!
I started the day photographing bridal preps with Polly, the mums, bridesmaid, flowergirl and best girl – both of whom were Scott’s lovely daughters.
Having everything in one place is great for me, as it meant I could photograph the bridal details down in Salomon’s lovely museum, then nip to cover the ceremony room, and then out to meet the boys – ready very early and already enjoying a beer in the sunshine!
It was at this point that the day’s special guest arrived – I had been sworn to secrecy – Ralph the sausage dog would be attending the ceremony and a bit of the reception! Fresh from the groomers, Ralph made an appearance – as you’ll see, he’s in a lot of the photos but well, I (along with all the guests) couldn’t resist!
I nipped back upstairs to capture the final touches of bridal prep, before it was time to make our way down to the ceremony.
Ralph was handed over to a guest while Scott made his way to the front for the ceremony and everyone else took their seats in the stunning Gold Room to await the arrival of a hopefully very surprised Polly!
After the lovely ceremony, Ralph came up to the front for kisses and cuddles and a lot of fussing from everyone!
Polly and Scott made their exit before being greeted by their guests along with drinks and canapes.
As Ralph wasn’t staying for the full reception, we took the opportunity to grab some portraits with him before he was whisked away. Polly, Scott and I then captured some couples portraits down on the bridge before we headed back up to the main house for a couple of quick group shots.
All too soon it was time for everyone to make their way into the stunningly decorated Drawing Room.
After the meal, it was time for the speeches – a great, funny speech from Polly’s Dad, before the Best Girl stood up to say a few words and toast the Bride and Groom. Then onto Scott, who’s speech was just awesome -funny, then into some very, very touching words to his beautiful daughters – not a dry eye in the house!
After the speeches, we took the opportunity for a few more portraits as we had a bit of downtime – Scott had warned me that ‘up North’ people went to get changed before the evening reception so guests may be a bit thin on the ground…
As it turned out the day flowed really well and there was plenty for me to photograph before we made our way up to the amazing Victorian Theatre for the cutting of the cake, first dance and then dancing to an AMAZING jazz/soul/funk group!
Congratulations once again to Polly, Scott – and Ralph!
