A few weeks ago I photographed Paul’s fantastic 40th birthday at Hotel du Vin Tunbridge Wells. Paul was joined by his family and friends for a lavish birthday party in the main reception room at Hotel du Vin. I started coverage by photographing the amazing cake and decorations in the room – Paul’s wife (who organised everything!) had decorated the room with photos from Paul’s younger days!
Following a drinks reception, the band played their first set (Some amazing dance moves were then brought out – lots of breakdancing and headstands, and not just from the kids!). Paul then made a great speech, although was heckled a bit by his wife, who, like me, could see that the very large and heavy cake, complete with lit candles, was waiting in the wings to come in! Luckily Phil just about held onto the cake and the candles stayed lit so Paul could blow them out!
Once the band got going again the dancefloor was packed. To round off my coverage of the evening, Paul, a keen guitarist, got up to play a song with the band to rapturous applause!
