Here’s part 1 of my woprk as the Lympne castle wedding photographer from Emma and Jason’s lovely family wedding last spring at the stunning Lympne Castle, down on the Kent coast.

I arrived at Lympne Castle nice and early, to photograph the ceremony room. It was a fairly windy day with a bit of a breeze at the front of the castle, so I decided to check the back area (where the drinks reception was due to be held) just to see what conditions were like, as although the view out to sea is stunning, it can make things a little breezy. Once I’d forced the door to the patio open, it was almost snatched out of my hand due to the sheer ferocity of the wind. A quick walk round outside told me that it wasn’t going to be safe to be outside for the guests (or me for that matter) and any sort of veil was going to take off!! So unfortunately plans had to be changed – the big group shot was done in the front courtyard, and the rest of the groups in the ceremony room. Luckily, the weather calmed down just enough later on to get Emma and Jason outside for some couples portraits (which will follow in part 2!).

So after photographing the ceremony room (and straightening my hair!), I made my way up to Pineapple Cottage to meet Emma and her bridesmaids for bridal prep. At a suitable point, I then went down to the Castle to meet Jason and the boys for some quick groom shots, then ran back up to Pineapple for more bridal prep, then back out for guest arrivals, then back up once the registrars had finished (it’s handy having everything under one roof, but you don’t half run around a lot!) to capture Emma’s walk down to the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the room was quickly cleared to enable me to use it for group shots; meanwhile the guests enjoyed a drinks reception whilst I captured some great candid photographs, especially of the kids playing in the children’s entertainment room.

Come back soon for part 2 – details, speeches, bride and groom portraits and the evening dancing!
