Here are some of my favourite images from Susie and Simon’s wedding photography at Combe Bank School in Kent, from back in March.
I’ve known Simon for many years through my previous work, so I was delighted to be asked to photograph his wedding to the lovely Susie. I started the day by joining Susie, her mum and bridesmaids (one of whom was another old work friend, Jenny!) at their house for very relaxed bridal prep, photographing the details while the girls were having their hair done, before they did their own makeup and got into their dresses.
I then made my way over to Combe Bank, to join Craig Prentis who had very kindly stepped in to assist me – my Dad had lost his battle with cancer that week and I knew he would have wanted me to carry on and shoot the wedding, but having Craig there to ease the load was amazing and really reassuring for me. Craig is a fantastic photographer, so knowing he could capture candids and details while I was busy with groups really took some pressure off me.
Susie and Simon were having two ceremonies at Combe Bank – the official marriage ceremony conducted by registrars in front of their close family, followed by a blessing in the school chapel. Once we’d covered the brides arrival, I documented the marriage whilst Craig covered guests in the chapel. Once the ceremony had finished, Simon made his way to the front of the chapel to wait for Susie’s second walk down the aisle!
After both ceremonies, the guests enjoyed drinks and canapes while we photographed candids and then the groups. Being Britain in March, the weather wasn’t brilliant so we waited for a little while to see if the weather would clear so I could photograph the couples portraits.
After Craig had captured the details in the room for me, it was time for the guests to be seated and then the bride and groom made their entrance into the room, to listen to (and give) their speeches before the wedding breakfast was served.
After the main course, we had a few quick shafts of sunlight appear, so I grabbed Susie and Simon and we made our way outside for some bride and groom portrait photographs in and around the school.
All to soon it was time to cut the cake, and then straight into the first dance, which was finished by an impromptu indoor confetti throw, before the dancing and party really kicked in!
Congratulations once again to Susie and Simon!
