Part 2 of the kent wedding photography for Jess and Dan’s wedding.
After their wedding ceremony at St Peter & St Paul’s Church in Tonbridge, Jess & Daniel braved the Southborough traffic (if you’re local to Tunbridge Wells, you’ll know what I mean!) to get to St John’s Yard (also know as The Lava Bar) in Tunbridge Wells where they had their reception – I did the ‘wedding photographer dash’ and used all the (legal) tricks in the book to leave the church after them, but arrive at the venue just before them.
The bar had been closed to the public for the day; the inside of the bar is really funky and had been decorated beautifully with some really nice touches including a sweetie table (which funnily enough the kids loved!). Outside, the sun appeared perfectly on queue for the drinks reception and barbecue. Sun, drinks and a barbie always make for a great, relaxed atmosphere which allowed me to get some great candid photographs.
Once the meal was over, it was speech time, and for me, a rare treat – outdoor speeches! Lovely, directional late afternoon sunlight made for great photos whilst the speeches themselves made for some really funny but also really tender moments.
Back inside for the first dance where Jess and Dan were aided and abetted by their girls, who couldn’t wait to join in!
