Being a Kent wedding photographer, there are some venues you’ll work at again and again – Cooling Castle Barn is one of those venues. It’s a really interesting and popular wedding venue – weekend wedding dates are booked up years in advance. The main barn shows you why it’s so popular though, it’s a really impressive space and always looks amazing and comes across well in wedding photographs.

Here are some of my favourite images from my latest wedding at Cooling Castle – Becky and Nick’s wedding last bonfire night. I started the day unusually at the groom’s parents house for bridal preparations, where I joined the girls and the groom’s parents. After photographing the girls going through makeup, it was time for some presents to be exchanged – this doesn’t happen at every wedding but I love capturing it when it does. Becky got a bracelet and some Hunter wellies (luckily not needed), she got her dad a lovely engraved pocket watch and the groom got a surprise drive to Cooling Castle in an Aston Martin!

After photographing the bridal preps I made my way to Cooling Castle to meet Neil McLennan who was second shooting for me on the day – he’d already captured the groom’s arrival and all the details in the main barn (of which there were loads, the bride and groom had really put a lot of effort into the details on this one!). We both photographed guest arrivals – including the signing of a captain’s hat for purposes of the speeches later) and then onto the ceremony. After the ceremony, the bride and groom made their traditional Cooling Castle exit through into the main barn, or so they thought – another surprise, the groom’s mum had arranged for some chimney sweeps to arrive to give them their traditional greeting (not sure about the origins of this but I guess it’s supoposed to bring good luck!).

Here are my favourite wedding photographs from part 1 – come back soon for part 2 of their day!
